Funeral arranger smashes half marathon record in Kenilworth

Funeral Arranger Chris Clark from our Shirley branch of Thomas Bragg & Sons Funeral Directors beat his previous half marathon time to raise hundreds of pounds to support mental health in Solihull.

Chris finished the run around Kenilworth in one hour and 44 minutes, raising £305 for the mental health charity Mind.

Chris said: “I see people going through the hardest period of their lives as a Funeral Arranger and I’ve also experienced mental illness in my family and friends.

“These personal experiences were big motivators to get me in touch with Mind and run for them.”

Chris, who trained weekly for his third half marathon, said: “I get great satisfaction out of running and know what to do. It’s just a privilege to run for such good causes.”

His time narrowly tops his one hour and 46-minute record, set in a half marathon in March, where he successfully raised £413 for Marie Curie, the charity supporting the terminally ill.

Having run and fundraised for charities including Pancreatic Cancer Action, Teenage Cancer Trust, Marie Curie and Mind, Chris isn’t looking to stop anytime soon.

He concluded: “I’m already considering another half marathon for the near future and can’t wait to try to beat this record.”
